Dear fellow acupuncturists and students:
In the constantly growing and evolving world of integrative
medicine what is your most valuable asset? How do you best
utilize the wisdom and knowledge of Chinese medicine in the
modern world, and interface with western medicine?
The answer to both of these important questions is
education. Fortunately, if you are taking courses from
Integrated Medical Solutions, you are already getting
top-notch training from a trusted source. I do not need to
go over the accomplishments of your instructor, Dr. Bruce
Robinson, because I am sure you already know about his
decades of experience and of his long personal and
professional commitment to advancing the profession and
educational foundation of Chinese medicine here is the
United States.
I consider this training series to be #1 in terms of
educational content and full of clinically useful training
that I draw upon almost every day. Learning in depth about
hundreds of diseases, their diagnosis and treatment has made
me a better clinician and a true primary care provider for
my patients. I can now coordinate their care more
effectively and most importantly I know when to refer to
other medical specialists. This is extremely important, and
Dr. Robinson stresses the vigilant identification and
referral of red flag cases. The strength of this program
can be seen from fellow students who caught red flag
emergencies that even MDs missed, and ended up saving
lives.
I think the most important thing is that this course has
given me is the confidence and language to effectively talk
to Western MDs. Although we learn about Western Medicine,
MDs still know little about Chinese Medicine and
Acupuncture. When we working closely with MDs we have an
opportunity to teach them about how and when to use Chinese
Medicine, which many times is safer and should be the
primary treatment option. This creates safer and better
care for all of our patients and is the true beginning of
integrative medicine.
Sincerely,
Chris O’Donnell, M.S., L.Ac.
